Before you can open the Microsoft Excel or HTML files from an exported report, you must extract the files that SAS Web Report Studio includes in the ZIP file.
Note: When extracting the files, you must include the sasExport_files folder. This folder contains some auxiliary files that are needed to display the report. For best results, extract all of the files to the same folder.
If you attempt to open exported files before you extract them, then you see the behavior described in this KB article. The exact behavior depends on your browser and your version of Microsoft Office.
If you attempt to open the unextracted XLS file, you might see one of the following messages in addition to the error in Figure 1, or you might just see the error in Figure 1.
The file format and extension of 'sasExport.xls' don't match.
The file could be corrupted or unsafe.
Unless you trust its source, don't open it. Do you want to open it anyway?
The file you are trying to open, 'sasExport.xls', is in a different format than specified by the file extension. Verify that the file is not corrupted and is from a trusted source before opening the file. Do you want to open the file now?
Figure 1
If you attempt to open the unextracted HTML file, you might see a message similar to the one shown in Figure 2.
Figure 2
Before attempting to open the exported files, you must extract the files and save them to your local machine or to a shared network drive. For example, if you are using WinZip 15, you would select one of the Decompress options shown in Figure 3.
Figure 3
In some versions of Microsoft Windows, the exported files might appear as if they are already extracted, as shown in Figure 4. You cannot open the files directly from this listing. You must click the Extract all files in the upper left corner, or individually extract the file that you want to use and the sasExport_files folder.
