In SAS Add-In for Microsoft Office, you can configure an additional SAS Workspace Server to point to a SAS Viya 3.5 workspace server. However, tables might fail to open when using this configuration.
This issue occurs when you complete steps similar to the following:
- Define a workspace server.
- Click the SAS tab on the ribbon.
- Click Tools ► Connections.
- Click the Manage button.
- Select Servers, and then click the Add button.
- Enter all the information about your SAS Viya 3.5 Workspace Server.
- Click Save.
- Try to open a table.
- Click the SAS tab on the ribbon.
- Click Data. The View SAS Data dialog box is displayed.
- To select the workspace server that you defined previously, click the Browse button.
- Select a library and the table that you want to open.
- Click OK on the View SAS Data screen
- Excel tries to open the selected SAS data source but stops responding, and the Cancel button is unresponsive. You need to close Microsoft Excel with the task manager.
There is no workaround for this issue.
SAS encourages you to move to SAS® for Microsoft 365 on the SAS® Viya® Platform.
