Creating a new project gives a "NO_FILE" error

When you try to create a new project in SAS® Enterprise Miner™, the following error might occur:

While trying to read from the file "<fileLocation>/projectServerInfo.xml"
the following problem was encountered "NO_FILE"

The first step in diagnosing the problem is to correct any possible causes that are documented in this SAS Note 45889, "Creating a new project gives 'NO_FILE' or 'Cannot open project. The physical location for this project has been deleted..' errors".

If the problem continues after you correct the possible issues from SAS Note 45889, then perform the following check on the appropriate operating system.

If any of the checks are true, then SAS® Foundation component for SAS Enterprise Miner component is not installed. Take the following steps to install the component:

  1. Stop all SAS servers. (This step is not applicable if you have a SAS Enterprise Miner workstation deployment.)

  2. From your depot, invoke SAS® Deployment Wizard. Choose Install SAS Software.

  3. On the next screen, specify SAS Home. Specify the existing location of your SAS Home.

  4. On the Select Deployment Type screen, select INSTALL ADDITIONAL SOFTWARE. Do NOT select Perform a Planned Deployment.

  5. In the Select Products to Install screen, select only SAS Foundation because you are installing SAS Foundation components of SAS Enterprise Miner and SAS® Text Miner.

  6. In the next screen, select SAS Foundation Products. Base SAS is preselected. Select Enterprise Miner and Text Miner.

  7. In the next screen, specify SAS Installation Data File, and point to the SID that you used.
  8. Click through the remaining screens. Verify that only "Stage 1 Installation step" and the "SAS Foundation pieces" are installed.

  9. After installation completes successfully, restart your SAS Servers. (This step is not applicable if you have a SAS Enterprise Miner workstation deployment.)
