Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 (RHEL 7) is supported for SAS® 9.4M0 (TS1M0) and later with the following restrictions:
- Only SAS 9.4 is supported with RHEL 7. No earlier release of SAS is supported with RHEL 7.
- You must install the compat-glibc and libpng12 libraries in order to launch SAS 9.4 on RHEL 7.
The command to install these libraries is:
yum install compat-glibc libpng12
- If you are installing SAS 9.4 on RHEL 7.4, you must install the dejavu-serif-fonts library in order to be able to launch the SAS Deployment Manager or SAS Deployment Wizard.
The command to install this library is:
yum install dejavu-serif-fonts
The reason for this requirement is documented by Red Hat: https://access.redhat.com/solutions/3145721
- With RHEL 7, the default storage location of Kerberos credential caches has changed.
SAS customers who use Kerberos authentication must configure Kerberos for the previous behavior and use file-based caches stored in /tmp.
Documentation can be found in the Linux man page for krb5.conf. Search for the term default_ccache_name.
- SAS® Grid Manager customers who use GFS2 and want to upgrade to RHEL 7 should upgrade to RHEL 7.1 or a later minor release.
Performance concerns related to GFS2 on RHEL 7.0 exist, but RHEL 7.1 is fully supported.
- SAS Grid Manager customers must install a version of Platform Suite for SAS® that includes LSF 9.1.1 (that is, Version 8.1 or later). Version 8.1 is shipped with SAS® 9.4M2 (TS1M2).
If you have installed SAS 9.4M0 or SAS® 9.4M1 (TS1M1), you must upgrade to SAS 9.4M2 or later. Alternatively, contact SAS Technical Support to obtain Version 8.1.
- The use of IBM Platform RTM with SAS on RHEL 7 requires a Platform RTM for SAS patch.
SAS Grid Manager customers who run Platform RTM for SAS must install the patch or continue to run this component on a supported version of RHEL.
- The SAS® High-Performance Computing Management Console does not properly handle CGROUPS when running on RHEL 7.
