A SAS® 9.4M8 (TS1M8) start-up error shows a year 2000 expiration date and SASHELP library warning messages on Microsoft Windows operating systems


On Microsoft Windows operating systems, starting SAS 9.4M8 might produce this error:

WARNING: One or more libraries specified in the concatenated library SASHELP 
WARNING: do not exist.  These libraries were removed from the concatenation
ERROR: The current date of <today> is past the final 
ERROR: expiration date for your SAS System, which is Monday, April 3, 2000.
ERROR: Please contact your SAS Installation Representative to obtain your
ERROR: updated SAS Installation Data (SID) file, which includes SETINIT
ERROR: information. To locate the name of your SAS Installation Representative
... locate the REP for operating system WIN_NTE.
ERROR: Initialization of setinit information from SASHELP failed.
NOTE:  Unable to initialize the options subsystem.
ERROR: (SASXKINI): PHASE 3 KERNEL INITIALIZATION FAILED.
ERROR: Unable to initialize the SAS kernel.

 

This error can occur after you apply Base SAS 9.4_M8 hot fix L8X001, L8X003, or later to a SAS 9.4M8 installation that failed with a post-processing error. Then, if you start SAS® 9.4 (English) or SAS® 9.4 (32) (English), the above error occurs.
