How to prevent the automatic update from Java in SAS® Merchandise Planning


In SAS® Merchandise Planning, if the Java update option is enabled, then you might be redirected to the Java site to download the latest version.

To stop the automatic updates from Java, perform the following steps:

1.Go to Control Panel ► Programs ► Java.

2.The Java Control Panel is displayed.

3. Select the Update tab.

The Java Control Panel is open to the Update Tab. The box Check for Updates Automatically is pre-checked.

4. Uncheck the box for Check for Updates Automatically.

5. A Java Update Warning is displayed. Select Do Not Check.

6. Select Apply and then OK.

 

Even after the automatic update is disabled, in certain circumstances, the Java Update Needed message might be displayed.

To disable this notification, perform the following steps:

1. Start regedit.

2. Navigate through to the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\JavaSoft\Java Update\Policy.

3. Change the value of EnableAutoUpdateCheck to 0 and the value of EnableJavaUpdate to 0.

     a.  If EnableAutoUpdateCheck does not exist, then create a new DWORD of EnableAutoUpdateCheck and set the value to 0.

 

If the automatic update is not disabled, in certain circumstances, a Security Warning message might be displayed when accessing Plan Management.

Security warning message, saying running this application may be a security risk.

To disable this notification, perform the registry updates mentioned above and then perform the following steps, if applicable:

  1. Expand Show Options at the bottom of the message.
  2. A “Do not show this again for apps from the publisher and location above” message is displayed.
  3. Select both check boxes below:

 ‘I accept the risk and want to run the application’

‘Do not show this again for apps from the publisher and location above’

  1.  Select Run to start the application.
