It is a best practice to back up the configuration that you want to keep before you perform an update to SAS Anti-Money Laundering. (Backing up the configuration is important so that you can restore the configuration if needed).
Complete the following steps to back up and restore the configuration:
Back Up Configurations
Complete the following steps to prepare for the back up:
- Enable version control (either locally controlled or server-managed) through Git or another version control solution. This step enables you to track changes between original configurations, backups, and restored versions. For detailed instructions, refer to the documentation at https://git-scm.com.
- Make copies of any modified entities that updated configurations might change.
- From the application bar, navigate to the Manage Investigate and Search interface for SAS Visual Investigator. For more information, see SAS Visual Investigator: Administrator’s Guide, "User Management.”
- From the user menu (where the user avatar is displayed), select Export Configuration.
- Select the solutions and the entities that you want to back up.
If you export all six solutions at the same time, the application creates a .zip file that is named something similar to svi-solution-yyyy-mm-dd.zip. To make restoring specific packages easier, you should export each solution separately. After the file downloads, you can rename the .zip file according to the solution and the database type. Here are some examples:
- amlCddCoreConfiguration.zip
- amlCddCoreConfigurationMSSQL.zip
- amlCddCoreConfigurationOracle.zip
- amlLegacyConfiguration.zip
- amlRegReportConfiguration.zip
- amlTransMonConfiguration.zip
- amlTransMonConfigurationOracle.zip
- custDueDiligenceConfiguration.zip
- Click Export. The configurations are packaged and saved to your local machine.
Restore Configurations
Complete the following steps to restore configurations and entities (for example, after SAS Anti-Money Laundering updates):
- From the application bar, navigate to the Manage Investigate and Search interface for SAS Visual Investigator. For more information, see SAS Visual Investigator: Administrator’s Guide, "User Management.”
- From the user menu (where the user avatar is displayed), select Import Configuration.
Note: If you did not make copies of AML entities (pages, scenarios, and data stores) and export the copies, when you import the configurations, you might override changes to the original entities that ship with the new release.
For operational safety, you should perform actions on only the original entity and not a copy. For example, the workflow template's UUID and content of the resource files change each time that they are exported. With version control enabled, you can compare a new version of an entity with a copy that was imported and make any updates as needed.
- Select the file on your local machine to import. The file is analyzed and compared to the application's configurations.
- Select the items from the import package and click Import.
