The Server Files and Folders section of the Navigation pane enables you to access files and folders from your SAS server. In this section, you can display folders that contain files.

However, folders in this section might appear empty, and you might not be able to expand them even if they contain files when you do both of the following:

• Create a file with a name including an em dash (—) or en dash (–).
• Connect to a SAS^® Session that contains ENCODING=LATIN9.

This issue occurs because the en dash or em dash does not belong to the ISO_55919 (also known as LATIN9) character set.

To avoid this problem, complete one of the following workarounds:

• Connect to a SAS^® Workspace Server that has ENCODING=UTF-8.
• If you need to run the SAS Workspace Server in ENCODING=LATIN9, avoid using files with names including en dash or em dash characters.
