When SAS® or SAS Enterprise Guide is abnormally terminated, the SAS Enterprise Guide project file might become corrupt, preventing it from opening.
In some cases, a backup copy can be retrieved by following these steps:
- Select Tools ► Options ► Project Recovery.
- Copy the path in the Save location box, and then click OK to close the Options window.
- Click Start ► Run, and then paste the copied path into the Open box, and click OK.
- Check the recent folder(s) and subfolders to determine if there is an EGP or RCV file.
- If there is a recent EGP file, then try to open it.
- If there is a recent RCV file, then change the file extension to .egp, and then try to open the file.
If the previous steps do not recover the project, then follow these steps:
- Click Start ► Run, and then enter %temp% in the Open box, and click OK.
- Click the Views icon, and then select Details.
- Click the Date Modified header to sort by date.
- Check the recent folder(s) and subfolders to determine if there is an EGP or TMP file
- If there is a recent EGP file, then try to open it.
- If there is a recent TMP file, then change the file extension to .egp, and then try to open the file.
If you cannot recover the project using the previous suggestions, if the corrupt project file is not 0 KB in size, and if you do not have a good backup copy of the project, then send the project file to SAS Technical Support. In some cases, the project can be repaired.
