When you install SAS 9.4, several files are created that can help you troubleshoot any installation and configuration issues that might occur.

If you open a case with SAS Technical Support, be sure to include these files in order to facilitate the troubleshooting process. If only some of these files are available, send what you have and document that these are the only files that were created.

Logs That Are Created in the SASHome/InstallMisc/InstallLogs Directory

For SAS 9.4, several logs are created in the SASHome/InstallMisc/InstallLogs directory. Here are some examples:

• IT_date-time-stamp.log
  This log file provides very extensive and detailed error messages that, along with the information from the SAS^® Deployment Wizard log file, are extremely important and helpful in narrowing down installation issues. This file is very large.
• <product-identification_platform_version_language>_preexec.log
  For example, graph_r64_9.4_en_Install_preexec.log
• <product-identification_platform_version_language>_postexec.log
  For example, graph_r64_9.4_en_Install_postexec.log. These are referred to as audit files.

Files That Are Created in the SASDeploymentWizard Directory

For SAS 9.4, several files are created in the SASDeploymentWizard directory (that is, $HOME/.SASAppData/SASDeploymentWizard). Here are some of the files that are stored in this directory:

• DeploymentSummary.html

This file provides a summary of the installation, including whether the installation was successful or whether it completed with warning or error messages. Here is a sample of what it might contain:

For SAS 9.4, here are some additional logs that SAS Technical Support might use to help when you have performed a Planned installation and have encountered problems:

• The Configuration Logs in ConfigDir/LevelDir/Logs/Configure.

For example, ConfigDir/Lev1/Logs/Configure.

• The plan file, properties files, used for configuration in ConfigDir/LevelDir/Utilities.

For example, /opt/SAS9.4/Config/Lev1/Utilities.

The plan.xml will be named plan.year-month-day-hour-minute.xml

For example, plan.2013-03-17-03.33.xml.

• The Server Logs:

The logs for SAS server are found in their respective configuration directories. For example, the metadata server logs are found here:
