When running code in SAS Enterprise Guide, one of the following error messages might occur:

The connection to server "SASApp" has been lost.  SAS Enterprise Guide was unable to communicate with the server at <date/time stamp>

or

Error: SDS Failed to provide the decoder for the data set. 'sas.iomprovider.1' failed with no error message available, result code

When reviewing the Windows Event Viewer logs, an error similar to the following might occur:

Faulting module name: ACEOLEDB.DLL_unloaded, version: 16.0.5011.1000, time stamp: 0x5ea87244

Workaround

To workaround this issue, do either of the following:

• This scenario can occur if the program contains a DBMS=XLS value in the syntax. Switching to DBMS=XLSX will resolve many of these types of disconnects.
• Install the latest version of SAS Providers for OLDE DB.
