Performing an unplanned (non-planning) installation of SAS® Enterprise Guide®

SAS Enterprise Guide can be installed using a planned installation or an unplanned installation (also known as a non-planning installation). To install SAS Enterprise Guide using a planned installation, see SAS Note 50010, "Performing a planned installation of SAS® Enterprise Guide®."

The non-planning installation configures SAS Enterprise Guide without predetermined connection information about the SAS® Metadata Server. If a local (supported) installation of SAS® Foundation is installed alongside of the SAS Enterprise Guide client, the installation establishes a default connection to the local server.

The following instructions lead you through a SAS® Enterprise Guide® 5.1 installation from a SAS® 9.3 depot. You can complete these same general steps to install SAS® Enterprise Guide® 4.2, SAS® Enterprise Guide® 4.3, and SAS® Enterprise Guide® 6.1.

To perform a non-planning installation of SAS Enterprise Guide, complete the following steps.

  1. Start the SAS® Deployment Wizard using an Administrator account and with all antivirus and anti-malware software disabled.
  2. On the Select Deployment Task page, select the Install SAS software option, as shown below, and click Next.
